Starting My 2026 One Hundred Day Challenge

This 100 days leads right up to my 55th birthday, which will be April 18.

The 2025 version didn’t go well at all. I had wanted to drop somewhere around 10 pounds. Instead, it was just 1-2 pounds.

Keto just didn’t work as well for me last year. In both 2023 and 2024, I had great success with it. After a few hard days adapting to it, it was extremely easy. I just wasn’t nearly as hungry, and I ended up burning about 300-500 more calories a day for the duration of my 100 days.

During last year’s version, though, my appetite never changed, and I found myself hungry whenever I tried to eat less.

We added a couple of vacations, when I usually just let myself go altogether. As a result, by late September, I was up 5 pounds from my low last year of 188 in March.

After listening to a couple of podcasts that featured Dr. Dominic D’Agostino, I decided to try exogenous ketones by Audacious Nutrition to aid in achieving better ketosis.

After just 2 weeks of it, I started to gain the keto results I’d had before. My appetite subsided, and within just a little over 2 months, I was back at 188 again.

So the major change I’m making in 2025 is to use the ketone salts, which have both D-BHB and L-BHB, every day.

Other small changes include switching from sausage and cheese for breakfast to either yogurt or avocado toast (with keto bread). This lowers my calorie intake in a way that just wasn’t possible last year without the exogenous ketones.

I’ve also replaced my daily green drink with a simple multi-vitamin. The COSMOS studies showed great results, especially for cognition and memory, for a daily multi-vitamin. My thinking previously was that they weren’t effective – probably due to people selling green drinks. If I can get the same result for $50-90 less per month, that will be a substantial financial benefit over a year’s time.

I did succeed last year with drinking less during my 100-day challenge. I hadn’t thought about it, but I’d never gone 7 days without a drink. I did that twice last year.

I’m already at 7 days without alcohol as of today, and it seems it won’t be an issue to make it to 15. After that, I’ll decide if I want to dip back in or make it a full month. Either way, the goal for the next 100 days is to have no more than 0.25 drinks per day on average. That’s “only” 25 drinks over 100 days. That’s low for me, but I think it’s achievable.

Finally, I need to increase my resistance training again. I gave it up during the holidays – partly to prevent oncoming tendonitis, but mostly because I just didn’t feel like it and got out of practice.

Anyway, let’s get to it. 55 is coming for me!
